Project NauticalWhimsicalCelestial: Foyer & Kitchen

We updated three main rooms in this McLean first floor, but there were also transition areas we updated to maintain flow from one room to the next. Today, we will be looking at these two rooms: the Foyer and the Kitchen.

The Kitchen

The clients didn't want a full kitchen remodel, just a few simple upgrades that would freshen up the space and make it look intentional.

We updated the cabinet knobs with crackled glass hardware as well as the faucet and soap dispenser. We wanted to make the banquette functional, so we curated an assortment of pillows that tied into the current foam cushion, added a bistro table, counter stools, and freshened up the window treatments.

We sourced new pendant lights which coordinated with the color scheme of the existing kitchen, while bringing it into a more current style. The result makes us want to sit back with a magazine and a cup of coffee!

The Foyer

The front door. The entry. The first impression. This foyer leads to the sitting room, the kitchen, and the second floor. It sets the tone for the entire home. (The "before" view of the banquette can also be seen in the left photo!)

We took advantage of the existing tray ceiling and added a starry night wallpaper within it, along with a celestial star pendant light. The whimsical vibe called for checkerboard, so we incorporated black and white marble checker tiles. Not pictured, but along the stairs, we sourced gold stars of various sizes that were hung and can be viewed as you journey up after a long day.
